Medication preparation areas are clean, uncluttered, located away from sinks and are properly cleaned with a hospital approved disinfectant product prior to use per PCH policy.

All medications are labeled in accordance with PCH policy and regulatory requirements.

All medications are stored securely in an ADC, medication room, approved locked cabinet or medication cart until the time they are administered.

All medications that require refrigeration are stored securely in a locked or ADC flex-locked refrigerator

Keys for approved medication storage areas are stored securely and are accessible only to authorized clinical staff.

Hazardous medications are stored in leak proof containers and are segregated from non-hazardous medications per PCH policy in approved storage areas.

Appropriate signage providing notification of storage of hazardous medications is present as applicable.

Appropriate PPE is available and is used in accordance with policy.

Chemo spill kits are available and staff are able to articulate appropriate use per policy.

We do not give Chemo drugs so we do not have Chemo Spill Kits


Medications intended for external use are stored separately from oral or injectable medications.

Medications which are not used are returned promptly to approved, secure storage areas or are wasted or disposed of per PCH policy.

Medication waste is segregated into appropriate hospital-approved containers per regulations
